On June 22nd PhD student Hongy Sun successfully defended his thesis ‘Novel routes and insights into halide perovskite solar cells’. Sun carried out his doctoral research at AMOLF under supervision of Erik Garnett and Bruno Ehrler. The defense took place at the University of Amsterdam.

The thesis investigates halide perovskite solar cells as a sustainable and efficient alternative to silicon-based solar cells. The study employs electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) to examine perovskite films, revealing it as a powerful tool for correlating crystallographic information with thin-film properties.
