Cum Laude for Jorik van de Groep
On December 15th Jorik van de Groep defended his PhD thesis Resonant Nanophotonic Structures for Photovoltaics at the University of Amsterdam.
Van de Groep obtained the Cum Laude degree for his doctorate research. This degree is reserved for the top 5% of the students. Albert Polman was the promotor.
During the past four years Van de Groep studied scattering and absorption processes of light by resonant metal and dielectric nanostructures. These insights can be used for the design and development of improved solar cells and other photo-electric applications.
