Gijsje Koenderink (group leader of the Biological Soft Matter group and head of the Living Matter department) has won the 2018 Pierre-Gilles de Gennes prize. The prize has been established to honor the late Pierre-Gilles de Gennes, a French physicist and Nobel Prize laureate. Koenderink received the prize for her remarkable contributions to a better understanding of Biological Soft Matter and related interdisciplinary phenomena. She received the prize on June 19th at the conference ‘From Solid State to Biophysics IX: from Basic to Life Sciences’ in Dubrovnik.
