Photo-ionization of two-electron atoms: How to solve a 5-dimensional Schrödinger equation on a desktop PC

We discuss some numerical techniques that help to make numerical simulation of ionization of a three dimensional, two-electron system more efficient, A method to obtain highly accurate ground state, and a novel absorbing boundary condition are discussed in detail.
