Dendrimers are a recently developed class of synthetic polymers. They consist of monomer units which are connected in a tree-like branching fashion. In this study we used polypropylenamine (POPAM) dendrimers, consisting of a diaminobutane (DAB) core, attached to which are the propylenamine repeating units. These are referred to as DAB(PA)n dendrimers, n being the number of NH2 end-groups, which doubles with each generation of these dendrimers. For our MS/MS studies we have used generations 2, 3 and 4 containing 8, 16 and 32 end-groups, respectively.
