Characterisation of co-polyesters with electrospray ionisation FTICR-MS
A series of synthetic polymers has been fragmented using On- and Off-Resonance excitation Collisional Activated Dissociation (CAD) with Electrospray ionisation (ESI) and Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption ionisation (MALDI) Fourier Transform lon Cyclotron Resonance Mass Spectrometry (FT-ICRMS). Xenon or Argon was used as the collision gas. Three polyesters and a branched trifunctional aromatic polymer have been studied. The polyesters are homo-poly(di-propoxylated bisphenol-A/adipic acid), homo-poly(dipropoxylated bisphenol-A/isophthalic acid) and the co-polyester poly(di-propoxylated bisphenol-A/adipic acid/isophthalic acid). The trifunctional aromatic polymer has a repeat unit of C26H15N2O2.
