Abstract: Simulations to fit a model potential for rainbow scattering of K-ions on W(110) generate a complicated 3-dimensional hypersurface, which is projected onto a detector plane in experiments. To describe those projections catastrophe theory can be applied. To investigate how this theory can be applied some calculations on hard wall scattering have been performed.
